Initial Assignment
Working with hiring managers and recruiters, The I.T. Route takes the time to understand your business model and how the individuals you seek will best integrate with that vision. Our technical recruiters complete a detailed search requisition based upon your needs, and make the extra effort to work within the client's best practice model for adding staff.
Contacts/Referrals
Our knowledge of the market, coupled with the diligence we perform on candidates, is our best method of building referrals. As a practice, we work on maintaining close contact with senior candidates, and cultivate referrals constantly. This method of recruitment is more time-intensive then web-based searching, but it is the firm's experience that this system provides us with a superior pool of talent who are not part of the public job market.
[top]Candidate Interview
All our candidates are met face to face, (except those in distant locations, who follow the same interview procedure via teleconference). During this ninety-minute structured interview, account managers and technical recruiters assess their personality, build an inventory of technical skills (using code samples if relevant), and then aggregate this information into a profile of their career aspirations. Working at this level of detail allows us to efficiently map candidates to opportunities, resulting in our abilities to present appropriately qualified individuals for a given position.
References
Multiple confidential references are conducted with both current and former managers, as well as peers. The I.T. Route uses a structured phone interview during which we qualify candidate performance in terms of time management, stress management, communication skills, depth of technical knowledge, and understand their how their referees would ameliorate the candidate's personal and professional skills. We can also verify employment, certification, and credit history.
[top]Client Submissions
Due to the thoroughness of the interview and reference process, we are able to present both technical and managerial candidates who are well fitted to the given job description. With time to hire often a critical issue, our firm does not waste clients' time submitting many resumes with the hope that one works. Instead we usually present three well-qualified individuals per role, on whom due diligence has been completed.
Client Interviews
Our account managers act as an efficient interface throughout the interview process. They provide detailed feedback to the client, as well as keeping the candidate informed of developments. The I.T. Route furnishes relevant information on the candidates whom the client is interviewing, including hot-button issues that will enable the client to excite talent with whom they wish to move forward.
[top]Offer/Negotiation
When it comes time to make an offer our firm can provide valuable advice regarding compensation and offer presentation. At a client's request, The I.T. Route will manage the offer presentation, explanation, and negotiation process. During our initial interviews, we have constructed a detailed matrix of the candidate's compensation expectations, and can assist the client in structuring an offer that will both motivate the chosen candidate to accept as well as fit the client's requirements.
Acceptance
The firm facilitates the transition process by offering the candidate proven advice on the best tactics for a painless resignation. We also prepare the candidate and strategize with them on dealing with and turning down counter-offers. Additionally, we have knowledge regarding intellectual property retention and knowledge transfer. The client will gain a motivated employee who is clear of any obligations to his or her former employers.

By staying in touch with the incumbent during the initial phases of employment, we ensure an easier transition to the new position. This proactive approach facilitates the identification and reporting of issues to our clients' manager, mitigating dissatisfaction on either side. This high touch with our candidates not only ensures their benefit to our client is maximized, but also leaves both parties feeling satisfied with the entire recruitment process.
